First Christian Church, El Paso

The official symbol for the Christian Church ( Disciples of Christ) is a simple red chalice. It bears a St. Andrews cross, symbolic of our Scotch-Presbyterian heritage. This cross cuts diagonally across the chalice as if it were being carried, thus representing out willingness to accept the burden of God's mission in the world. The chalice is tipped to symbolize the outpouring of the blood of Christ for the salvation of the world. The Christian Church has always accentuated the centrality and importance of the Holy Communion and have practiced immersion baptism as the most complete expression of an individuals surrender to Jesus Christ.
